Anna Horford, the sister of Boston Celtics center Al Horford, on Wednesday reacted to a report following the LA Lakers’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs gave the net from the basket where Bronny James, LeBron James’ son, scored his first points in the NBA. Anna said that while it's "cool" to see the Jameses playing together, it saddens her for players who “didn’t get drafted” because of Bronny.
A basketball fan on X (formerly Twitter) responded to Horford’s comments on Friday, claiming that she and many fans excuse Thanasis Antetokounmpo while consistently criticizing the Lakers’ 2024 second-round pick.

The “Horford Happy Hour” podcast host reacted to the pushback:
“Nah I agree actually.”
Over the years, the Milwaukee Bucks have been accused of catering to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo by retaining his older brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo on the roster. Their younger brother, Alex, also became part of Milwaukee's G-League team.
The “Greek Freak” has been criticized for nepotism but hasn't reached the level of scrutiny LeBron James has faced. Anna Horford appeared to agree with this while conceding Thanasis earned an NBA spot because of his two-time MVP brother.
The older Antetokounmpo last played during the 2023-24 season. He played 34 games before a torn Achilles sidelined him. Thanasis became an unrestricted free agent when the Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.
Meanwhile, Bronny James’ career has just started. Rich Paul, the father and son’s agent, helped the youngster go to the Lakers. Paul made it clear that Bronny would not accept a two-way deal and reportedly informed teams on draft day that the former USC guard would play in Australia if another team selected him.
Nepotism talks surged before draft day and have continued into the regular season, particularly as James Jr. has faced struggles.
Anna Horford once received threats after trolling LeBron James in 2023
In January 2023, LeBron James and the LA Lakers lost in overtime 125-121 to their rivals, the Boston Celtics. James appeared to be fouled late in the extra period, but the no-call allowed the Celtics to defend their home court.
Anna Horford trolled James and the Lakers after the game with a tweet she deleted shortly after, which referenced the “And the Oscar goes to” meme.
The post garnered negative reactions from many, but one fan escalated the situation by sending her a death threat. Horford reacted to a message that she deemed "unacceptable."
