Cooper Flagg hadn't even committed to Duke but he was still projected as the No. 1 pick in his NBA Draft class.
He went viral over and over again since his days at Montverde Academy. His popularity among NBA fans reached new heights after watching him hold his own in a scrimmage vs. true superstars in the summer when he played against Team USA.
Nevertheless, some aren't so sure about him as the best prospect in his class anymore. Apparently, Rutgers star Dylan Harper is gaining some momentum, with one unnamed scout telling Nic Thomas of 'The Draft Stack' that he's more likely to go No. 1 right now:

“Cooper is an awesome prospect. Almost any other year he’d go number one. However, a guy like Dylan’s Harper is far more likely to go first,” the scout told him.
Flagg has been up and down in his collegiate season with the Blue Devils, but the highs have been impressive enough to still make people think he's the best in his class, at least for now.
Jeff Teague makes a bold statement about Cooper Flagg
Even some NBA players believe Flagg's floor is particularly high. In the latest edition of his podcast, Jeff Teague compared him to Andrei Kirilenko, stating that they're both versatile defenders who can knock down shots:
“Cooper Flagg is like Andrei Kirilenko," Teague said. “(He's a) really good defender” who can “rebound, block shots, run the floor and dunk.”
“AK-47 was an All-Star, he could do a lot of things on the basketball court. He was a utility guy who could do pretty much everything,” continued Teague.
Teague also criticized the fact that Flagg, who seemed to have an NBA-ready body and game, still had to spend one year in college before being eligible for the NBA Draft:
“Some guys like Cooper Flagg, I just feel like they should have been able to go out of high school," he added. "Some of these guys, college is not really benefiting them.”
The league is unlikely to tweak that rule for the time being, and most players have benefitted from staying in college for at least one season.
Flagg hasn't been as dominant as some thought he'd be, perhaps because of how stacked the Blue Devils are.
Whatever the case, he has all the physical tools and skills to become a superstar at the next level, even if some scouts would still take Harper or Ace Bailey over him.
