Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant added another poster to his collection on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. Unfortunately, his dunk over Victor Wembanyama didn't count, even though it got everyone out of their seats. Morant spoke about the play after the game, but he was nonchalant about who he met in the air. According to him, Wembanyama is just like any other opponent in the league despite his height.

Morant, one of the high flyers in today's NBA, entered the game against the Spurs riding a hot streak, scoring 20+ points in four of the last five games he has played. He clashed against Wembanyama, the sophomore phenom trying to lead his team to the playoffs for the first time in his career.

During a postgame interview with Grizzlies reporter Michael Wallace in the locker room, Morant talked about his fourth quarter dunk against Wembanyama that came after a whistle.

"It was another person at the rim," Morant said. "I've dunked on plenty of people, bro. He don't get no pass. If you at the rim, I'mma try you at that situation."

Wembanyama joins a long list of names that Morant has posterized in his six-year career, along with fellow centers Jakob Poetl, Chris Boucher, Aron Baynes and Jalen Smith. Ironically, the highlight reel play came after Morant imposed a self-ban on dunking in December, a promise he broke just a couple of days after against the Boston Celtics

Are Ja Morant's acrobatic efforts enough to keep the Grizzlies near the top of the West?

Despite only playing in 24 of the team's 41 games this season, Morant is one of the leaders of the Grizzlies along with Jaren Jackson Jr. At 26-15, Memphis is third in the Western Conference, two games behind the Houston Rockets for second, but only one and a half games ahead of the Denver Nuggets.

Morant has been special for Memphis when he plays, averaging 21.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game this season. His playmaking and athleticism have defined the playstyle the Grizzlies lean into. As the team enters the second half of the season, Morant and Jackson will be expected to lead the team back to the postseason after falling short last year.
