NBA fans had mixed reactions to Jayson Tatum's recent announcement regarding a partnership with Barack Obama's wife Michelle. It has been an amazing year for Tatum on the court, winning his first championship and second Olympic gold medal. He was also on the cover of NBA 2K25 and recently published his first children's book.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Tatum revealed that he has joined Obama's When We All Vote team as a co-chairman. When We All Vote is an initiative launched by the former First Lady to help mobilize fans to register and get them ready to vote in November.
"Our right to vote is so important, so I had to answer the call," Tatum said.

It's not the first time for an NBA player to partner with Michelle Obama's When We All Vote. Jayson Tatum joined Steph Curry and Chris Paul among athletes who support the cause. However, the move by the Boston Celtics superstar gained mixed reactions from fans.
"As if we needed another reason to hate the Celtics," a fan wrote.
"How can anyone hate on this guy?," one fan asked.
"JT please stay outta politics. We already get enough hate," another fan commented.
Some NBA players such as Jayson Tatum have voiced their choices for the elections and politics, which hasn't sat well with some fans.
"Y'all don't realize the more celebrities you get. The more we vote for Trump," a fan claimed.
"He means well, but such a bummer how athletes get preyed on with this stuff," one fan opined.
"Two of my favorite things, voting and JT!" another fan remarked.
The 2024 presidential elections will be held on Nov. 5 and it is expected to be a close battle between former president Donald Trump and current vice president Kamala Harris.
Steve Kerr talks about Jayson Tatum and Celtics fans
One of the biggest talking points at the 2024 Paris Olympics is Jayson Tatum's limited minutes and benching by Team USA coach Steve Kerr. Tatum is coming off an NBA championship win and is among the best players in the world. However, Kerr failed to find any significant minutes for him during the United States' triumph in France.
Speaking to NBA.com's Steve Aschburner, Kerr was asked about the Golden State Warriors' lone game at the TD Garden in the upcoming season on Nov. 6. The four-time champion head coach understands that Boston Celtics fans are upset with him and he's ready for the loud jeers.
"I think they're going to be all over me (laughs). That's fine," Kerr said.
The Celtics will enter the season as the favorites to win back-to-back championships with Tatum at the helm. The Warriors, on the other hand, lost Klay Thompson in free agency and revamped their roster by adding role players for depth.
