NBA fans reacted strongly to analyst Jason Timpf's ranking of the top 25 players heading into the 2024-25 season. The young and popular analyst placed Denver Nuggets superstar and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic in the No. 1 spot, with Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic and Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo securing second and third, respectively.
Timpf rounded out his top 10 by placing LA Lakers’ LeBron James in eighth, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant in ninth and Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry in 10th.

Basketball fans responded sharply to Timpf's list, with one fan criticizing the analyst for ranking Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum ahead of LeBron James.
"Ant and Tatum over Lebron is utterly ridiculous. Put Lebron on Ant or Tatums team and they 2x champs. This horrible criteria and very bad list. Ant did not earn that spot over Lebron and Tatum can barely shoot a basketball. Should be Lebron and Curry over these 2. Really bad list."
A few X users didn't agree with the LA Lakers superstar Anthony Davis' occupying the No.6 place.
"Anthony Davis is NOT the 6th best player in basketball. Way way too high on this list. Also Tatum over KD and LeBron??? Absolutely not. Besides those glaring weaknesses the list is very good," a fan commented.
"ant & ad over tatum with a straight face is wild," wrote another fan.
"Given the premise is from October to June, Luka, Ant & AD are way too high. Luka ran out of legs last year, Ant shot above himself & then crashed ro Earth & AD has to be knocked because he still isn't no. 1 on his team &is oft injured," opined a fan.
A couple of fans called Timpf's list a decent one.
"Great list. Some counter-consensus picks that are defensible. love the Jaylen Brown placement," a fan wrote.
"Looks like a fair list to me. I might put Bron 7th and Tatum 8th but just quibbling," another X user commented.
Jason Timpf declares NBA GOAT debate over
Jason Timpf, a self-proclaimed longtime LeBron James fan, declared the NBA GOAT debate officially settled. The young analyst named LeBron as the greatest basketball player of all time.
"If you were starting a franchise tomorrow, and you could pick any basketball player in the history of the game, from their rookie year, to lead your team, you take LeBron James 10 times out of 10. That just makes him the greatest basketball player to ever play the game," Timpf had said earlier.
LeBron James, the four-time NBA champion, is set to begin his 22nd season in the league when the 2024-25 campaign tips off.
