Anthony Davis has been sidelined for weeks with a left adductor strain. The injury occurred during his first game with his new team, the Dallas Mavericks, after he was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers for Luka Doncic. Davis was dominating in his first game against the Houston Rockets before exiting with an apparent groin injury. Dallas would hold on to win the game 116-105. Davis would not return and has not played since.
During Davis's absence, the Mavericks have gone an even 3-3 in that stretch, including their most recent game against former Mavericks superstar Doncic and the LA Lakers. The Mavs would fall to the Lakers 107-99, with "Luka Magic" recording a triple-double. Some positive news for Mavericks fans, however, is head coach Jason Kidd was able to provide an update on Davis' recovery and his return timeline:

"He feels good, but just in conversation he says he feels great. So hopefully he's trending in the right direction and we'll find out here shortly how everything's going," Kidd said.

A positive update from Kidd also mentioned that Davis is in positive spirits and is doing some light shooting and weight-lifting for recovery. The Mavericks themselves are in win-now mode, which they've said was a big reason they made the blockbuster trade in the first place. Anthony Davis will hope to be back from injury soon, and fans can see just how good this Mavericks team can be on a night-to-night basis.
"I just don't believe it": Anthony Davis doesn't believe trade to send him to Dallas was kept a secret
Anthony Davis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic earlier this month. The trade shocked the NBA world as many thought ESPN insider Shams Charania was hacked when he posted the trade on X/Twitter due to the general disbelief the trade occurred.
Afterwards, it was revealed that the Lakers and Mavericks had made a conscious effort to keep the trade as secret as possible to avoid any potential commentary or jeopardizing the trade.
Davis doesn't believe it was kept as secret as is being reported:
"Everbody's saying nobody knew and all this other s***. I just don't believe it," Davis said.
Davis has a hard time believing that two top 10 players in the NBA could be traded for one another midseason with few in the know-how about it around the league. Supposedly, no one except the GMs and the ownership of both teams knew. Whether that is true or not, one thing remains clear. The trade was real, and Anthony Davis is a Dallas Maverick.
