Anthony Davis continues to recover from his adductor injury as the Dallas Mavericks try to stay afloat in the middle of the Western Conference standings. The Mavericks signed an additional backup center, who shared his feelings about playing with AD and Kyrie Irving.

Speaking to reporters before Monday's game against the Sacramento Kings, Kai Jones was asked about his thoughts on playing for the Mavs. Jones is ready to help the struggling injury-plagued team in any way he can, pointing out his fit to Jason Kidd's offense.

"I think I fit with them because they play a lot of pick and roll, high-speed pick and roll," Jones said, according to Mavs beat reporter Noah Weber. "(A) ball handler like Kyrie, I think their pace is really good and they're looking to throw a lot of lobs, and they have a lot of shooters so space the floor for me too. …I think (Kyrie)'s really good at throwing (lobs), and I'm ready to catch 'em."

Kai Jones showcased what he has against the Sacramento Kings. He finished with 21 points and eight rebounds on 9-for-10 shooting from the field off the bench. However, he was unable to play with Kyrie Irving for long after the Dallas Mavericks guard suffered a left knee injury.

Irving's knee buckled after attacking the basket and getting fouled. He was on the floor in pain as his teammates and team personnel surrounded him. Anthony Davis helped Irving get back to his feet and into the free throw line.

The Mavericks are hoping that there's no extensive damage in Irving's left knee. The initial diagnosis was a hyperextended left knee, possibly causing a sprain. The worst-case scenario is a torn ligament, but the Mavs are expected to put Irving through several tests to confirm the extent of the injury.

The Dallas Mavericks announced in the third week of February that Anthony Davis is set to get re-evaluated in two weeks. Fast forward to the current week, Davis could be receiving some good news regarding his potential return from an adductor injury.

Davis suffered the injury in his debut for the Mavericks following the shocking Luka Doncic in early February. There were fears that AD might need surgery, but it seems like he avoided a major injury.

But even if Davis gets cleared to return, the Mavericks are still in deep trouble. Dallas needs all the wins they can get to back Nico Harrison's decision to trade Doncic last month.
