Anthony Davis quashed all fears of a serious injury setback when he made it clear that he would suit up for the clash against the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday. The center jammed his hip during the matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers in addition to being hit flush in the face.

Both incidents occurred during the first quarter where Davis was visibly in pain and played with it throughout the game. Speaking to the media postgame, he revealed he was confident, making it a positive injury update for the Lakers who have now lost two games consecutively. Per ESPN's Dave McMenamin:

"Anthony Davis said he “jammed” his hip in the 1st Q. He said it won’t stop him from playing in Toronto"

The Wednesday game against the Cavaliers was an absolute disaster for the Lakers as they lagged throughout the game, and never recovered. The result was a 134-110 blowout loss. They are now sixth in the West standings with a 3-2 record and are 0-2 on the road. They have three games left on this road trip, with the next one against the Raptors.

As for Davis, the big continued to be consistent with another double-double. He ended with 22 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as LA was outplayed by a team playing quality basketball.

Anthony Davis doesn't hold back after brutal loss to the Cavaliers

Anthony Davis made his disappointment clear after the Lakers dropped their second game on the bounce. They were no match for the Cavaliers trio of Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen — all of whom recorded over 20 points against LA on Wednesday.

"This is the first game where we regressed and we were god awful offensively"

Barring Davis' 22 points, LeBron James led the Lakers with a game-high 26 points. D'Angelo Russell's quiet season continued as he propped up 10 points. Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura had equally subpar outings with just seven and eight points.

The Lakers started the season with a promising 3-0 record. While they have managed to keep their heads over the .500 mark, the only way to keep their record going and stay ahead of the competition in a stacked West is to keep winning games on the road, something they have failed to do in the last few seasons. It's now a familiar tale of the side depending heavily on Anthony Davis and James to do the bulk of the scoring.
