Anthony Davis delivered a strong message for the Dallas Mavericks fans amid a woeful season.
Criticisms were reignited amid the team's injury setbacks. Many also made their feelings known about the high-profile deal that sent 26-year-old superstar Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers, with some saying it is lopsided.
In response, Davis said on Friday:

"I know who I am as a player," Davis said. "I’m Top 75 of all time, and I just want to let the Dallas fans know, like, ‘Hey, I got you, I’m here now.’ I know you lost a superstar in Luka, but you also gain a superstar like myself."

NBA Retweet posted Davis' message on X, quoting the franchise.
In 2021, Anthony Davis was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. The league chose its 75 best players in honor of its founding anniversary. The one-time NBA champion was part of the team and was among the 11 active players chosen.
However, Davis is sidelined indefinitely due to an adductor strain. He had to leave his Mavs debut last month due to the injury. The four-time All-NBA first-team selection has missed 11 games since.
Jason Kidd provides latest update on Anthony Davis
Before Friday's 122-111 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd provided an update on Anthony Davis' possible return this season.
According to Kidd, Davis' timeline is still uncertain, but said the 10-time NBA All-Star is progressing in the "right direction." The coach also provided the latest development on injured center Dereck Lively.
The Dallas Morning News' Mike Curtis tweeted Kidd's comments.
"Just taking it day by day and trying to get healthy and continue to put our best foot forward to compete and win," Kidd said. "Right now, we have 19 games left. We're just focused on the Grizzlies right now. As we go forward, hopefully, we continue to get positive news on (Dereck) Lively. He's out of the boot, so he's going in the right direction.
"AD is trending in the right direction. As we go forward, there'll be more news to come. Hopefully it says they'll be ready to play, but we just don't know when," Kidd said.
Amid its numerous injuries, rumors have surfaced that the team may shut down Anthony Davis for the rest of 2024-25. This was further exacerbated following the announcement of nine-time NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving's season-ending ACL tear he acquired during a game against the Sacramento Kings on March 3.
Davis being sidelined for the Mavs' final 18 games could be a massive blow to their playoff aspirations. Dallas (32-32) sits at the final play-in spot in the competitive Western Conference but is on a four-game losing skid.
