Anthony Davis has finally won one against Domantas Sabonis.
Davis is one of the NBA's most dominant big men, known for his strong two-way skills, but Domantas Sabonis seems to be his Achilles' heel. Davis had lost his first 10 matchups against Sabonis.
On Saturday night, the LA Lakers faced off against the Sacramento Kings, marking the 11th encounter between Davis and Sabonis, and "The Brow" finally secured a win against the Lithuanian.
Davis tallied 31 points and collected nine rebounds in his matchup with Sabonis, who notched 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. The Lakers triumphed, 131-127.

Davis has now recorded 30 or more points in three consecutive games. He scored 35 points in his first two outings, becoming only the third Laker in history to kick off an NBA season with back-to-back 35-point performances, joining the ranks of legends Jerry West (1969-70) and Elgin Baylor (1962-63).
Below are Anthony Davis' stats from the game.
Anthony Davis praises JJ Redick’s system
JJ Redick has emphasized that unlocking Anthony Davis would be key for the Lakers, and early in the season, that strategy is paying off. The Lakers opened the season by beating two playoff teams from last year — the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns.
Davis scored 35 points in both games, and against the Suns, he helped lead the Lakers back from a 22-point deficit to claim victory. After the game, Davis credited Redick’s system for the team’s success.
“Guys are making big-time shots. We’re making the right plays … Honestly, the schematic that JJ put in has helped me out and is helping everyone out. We just have so much space and we’re having fun doing it,” he said (per AP).
Even during the 22-point deficit against the Suns, Davis noted that Redick’s calm demeanor kept the team composed.
“Down 22, that’s when the trust and coaching has to kick in. JJ coming into the huddle and telling us to settle down because we know what we’re doing wrong on turnovers and transition. Him not panicking, obviously, makes us not panic. We’re trusting what he’s doing and the schemes he’s putting in on both ends of the floor.”
The Lakers hired Redick after firing Darvin Ham following their first-round playoff exit and an unsuccessful pursuit of UConn's Dan Hurley.
