After the Boston Celtics secured their 18th NBA championship title on Monday, former Celtics star Paul Pierce celebrated the victory by recreating his 2008 championship teammate Kevin Garnett's iconic declaration. Pierce, who was the 2008 NBA Finals MVP, shared his celebratory imitation on Instagram as he congratulated the Celtics for their achievement.

Kevin Garnett made the declaration when he concluded his spectacular season as the Boston Celtics won their previous championship after they defeated the LA Lakers in six games in 2008. The 2007–08 season also featured Garnett securing his 11th All-Star selection and the Defensive POY.

The Boston Celtics now have the most championship titles in the NBA after securing their 18th title on Monday.

The Celtics were dominant throughout the regular season, as they led the league standings with a 64-18 record. They continued their dominance into the postseason, in which they secured a 16-3 record, including a 10-game winning streak.

Apart from the Game 4 blowout loss in the NBA Finals, Boston completely dominated Dallas in the NBA Finals. They secured the title with a 106-88 Game 5 victory led by Jayson Tatum's double-double performance of 31 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds.

Jaylen Brown was awarded the NBA Finals MVP for his pivotal role in guarding Luka Doncic and crucial performances in all five games. Brown averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.6 steals in the NBA Finals to secure the honor.

How Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett played a role in the Celtics' 2023–24 NBA championship

Former NBA champions Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett indirectly played a role in the Boston Celtics securing the 2023–24 NBA championship title.

Pierce, Garnett and Jason Terry were traded by the Celtics to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013 in exchange for Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries, Kris Joseph, Gerald Wallace and three unprotected future first-round picks.

Though the trade seemed like a massive win for the Nets at the time, the future first-round picks resulted in the Celtics acquiring Jaylen Brown in 2016 and Jayson Tatum in 2017.

The arrival of the star players resulted in the Celtics building their team around the star duo, which ultimately led to their 18th NBA championship title in 2024.
