“Biggest chokers of all time” - NBA Fans ruthlessly berate Nuggets after choking 20-point lead in Game 7

Fans reacted following the Denver Nuggets' monumental collapse in Game 7 of the NBA playoffs on Sunday. The Nuggets squandered a 20-point lead in the second half, succumbing to a 98-90 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It's the largest lead squandered in playoff history, beating the previous mark of 18 points.

The Wolves orchestrated a remarkable resurgence, with all five players making significant contributions in the comeback win. Leveraging their status as the NBA's top-ranked defense, they limited Denver to just 37 points in the second half while capitalizing on their own scoring opportunities. Additionally, their proficiency at the free-throw line proved pivotal, as they converted 26-of-30 attempts.

NBA fans took to 'X', formerly called Twitter, to share their disbelief and frustration with the Denver Nuggets' collapse. One fan said:

"The Denver Midggets everyone!! Biggest chokers of all time super team for what?"

Closer look at how Denver Nuggets gave up their 20-point lead to Minnesota Timberwolves

The Nuggets' defensive intensity was palpable, as they dominated the rebounds 29-18 in the first half. Despite Jaden McDaniels' limited playing time due to foul trouble, he managed a swift 10 points, supported by Karl-Anthony Towns' team-high 13 for the Wolves.

Anthony Edwards found himself stifled by trapping defenses, resulting in a meager four points on seven attempts. Christian Braun's relentless hustle and Michael Porter Jr.'s tenacity on the boards contributed significantly to Denver's defensive prowess.

Denver appeared to be cruising with a 20-point lead, spurred on by Murray's quick five points within the first 70 seconds of the second half. However, their offense stalled for the next 10 minutes, with only one field goal, allowing the Wolves to mount a formidable 15-1 run and narrow the lead to just one going into the fourth quarter. They were outscored 28-14 in the quarter.

Jokic and MPJ struggled to find their rhythm from beyond the arc until the final quarter, where they both knocked down crucial shots. However, their efforts fell short as the relentless Wolves continued to press on, which was evident in the final rebounding count, with the Wolves edging ahead 47-44.

Jokic concluded the game with an impressive stat line of 34 points, 19 rebounds, and seven assists, while Murray contributed 35 points on 27 shots. None of the other Nuggets players reached double figures in any statistical category, with the remainder of the team combining for a mere 21 points.

The team once again faced challenges in their 3-point shooting, finishing at a subpar 24.0% from beyond the arc.
