Bill Russell's daughter trolls Magic Johnson for jealousy from Celtics' 18th title

On Monday night, the Boston Celtics won their 18th championship in franchise history. Following this accomplishment, the daughter of one legend decided to troll one of the organization's longtime rival.

Throughout NBA history, there is no greater rivalry than the Celtics and LA Lakers. The two were tied in terms of championships for the past four years, but that is no longer the case.

After Boston took down the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5, Magic Johnson tweeted how frustrated he is that Boston has more titles. This led to a sarcastic apology from Bill Russell's daughter, Karen Russell:

"Sorry Earvin!"

Russell is a big reason why Boston has so many championships, helping the franchise win 11 of their 18 titles. Unfortunately, the Hall of Fame big man did not get to see them take the lead again. Russell passed away in the summer of 2022 at the age of 88.

As for Johnson, he had a storied rivalry with Boston during his time with the "Showtime" Lakers. He and Larry Bird battled it out on multiple occasions. Johnson was able to get the upper hand though, securing five championships with LA.

Magic Johnson ended up giving Boston Celtics their flowers

Although he didn't like seeing his longtime rival win another championship, Magic Johnson ended up giving the Boston Celtics their flowers. He made a series of posts on Monday night to congratulate countless members of the organization.

In his first post, Johnson shouted out Boston's owner. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday also were singled out as the Lakers legend views them as the team's leaders.

Next up was former Celtics coach and now general manager Brad Stevens. Johnson praised him for pulling off trades to acquire Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.

Lastly, Johnson showed love to Boston's coach Joe Mazzulla. He credited him for the work he did all season, especially his ability to adjust throughout the playoffs.

Johnson was not the only one to give Boston their flowers on Monday, though it could be seen as a backhanded compliment. The Golden State Warriors posted a pair of photos on their Instagram. One was of Derrick White with Steph Curry, followed by Tatum hugging Draymond Green.

Why the post could be seen as a slight jab is because they are from the 2022 NBA Finals. In that series, Golden State took down Boston to add another title to their dynasty.

Johnson wrapped up his series of social media posts with his final outlook on the series. He feels the key factor in Boston winning the championship was that Dallas didn't have the firepower to match their depth.
