Rookie Minnesota Timberwolves guard Terrance Shannon Jr. paid homage to a classic video game in a tattoo that let the world know the left-handed shooter has "unlimited ammo." However, fans had varied opinions on the exact way he designed the tattoo.

The Timberwolves confirmed speculation of the tattoo's meaning in a post to social media on Sunday.

Across his left forearm is a series of buttons referring to a Playstation 2 controller, ultimately representing the cheat code for "unlimited ammo" from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a 2004 action-adventure game from Rockstar Games.

Above the code is a compilation of phrases reading "LeHeat + LeLock + LeFreak," the latter wording drawing the most reactions from fans on X on Sunday.

"No shot bro got LeFreak tatted on him," wrote one user.
"Nahhh bro it’s hard but wtf is that sh*t above it lefreak...ayoooo," added another.

Some fans used the opportunity to share memes of LeBron James, joking what his reaction to the tattoo would be.

One meme shared Anthony Davis and James jointly leaving a press conference, joking that's how the two stars would react to the tattoo potentially praising James.

"Does that say LeFreak?" wrote one user.

Others appreciated the tattoo, which pays homage to a video game classic while saying Shannon Jr. is unstoppable with the ball in his hands.

"I need more details, but he went up a notch in my book," wrote one X user.
"This man needs a sponsorship deal from @RockstarGames for this," said another supporter.

Terrance Shannon Jr. impresses early in Summer League

The rookie forward exploded in his first game on Friday, scoring 25 of his team's 81 points in a seven-point victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

He shot 9-14 from the field, vastly outpacing rookie teammate and lottery pick Rob Dillingham, who shot just 2-12 in his debut for the Wolves.

Shannon Jr. played five seasons of college basketball, three in Texas Tech and his final two for the University of Illinois. He averaged 23 points per game in his final season of college before being drafted 27th overall to Minnesota.

He celebrated his selection with both of his college coaches at a pre-draft party hosted in Chicago. He's known as an aggressive, fearless shot-maker with a wealth of experience that makes him more NBA-ready than younger draft picks. His tattoo backs that up.

He'll play his next summer league game Sunday against the Indiana Pacers.
