OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for Canada in a closely contested game against Spain on Friday at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the final group game for both teams, SGA scored 20 points on 5-11, also adding three rebounds and two assists.
During the game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander copied Michael Jordan by sticking his tongue out while on a fast-break, drawing the attention of NBA fans, who were quick to react on X, formerly known as Twitter.
With its win over Spain, Canada secured a spot in the knockout rounds of the playoffs, thanks to their undefeated record in Group A. The achievement comes on the heels of the team finishing third in the FIBA World Cup last summer, making it clear that with its young core, Canada is poised to be competitive for years to come.
Despite the team punching their ticket to the knockout round, fans had plenty of jokes regarding Gilgeous-Alexander's Michael Jordan impersonation on the break.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Canada have been on a tear since last summer, where they finished third in the FIBA World Cup, behind Germany and Serbia. Before the Olympics, the team went 2-1 across three international friendly games.
On Jul. 10, the team lost to the United States 86-72, where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 10 points while going just 3-10 from the floor and recording four rebounds and an assist.
SGA and Canada bounced back in their second international friendly, defeating Victor Wembanyama and France on Jul. 19 where Gilgeous-Alexander scored 23 points, hauled down five rebounds and logged five assists.
They kept their momentum going against Puerto Rico in their final international friendly before the Olympics, with SGA contributing 14 points, three rebounds and six assists.
Once the group phase of the Olympics tipped off, the OKC star led the way for Canada with 21 points in the opening game against Greece before logging 16 points on 8-10against Australia.
With a 20-point outing on Friday, SGA and Canada have punched their ticket to the playoffs.
