After 20 seasons in the NBA, LeBron James has gained plenty of fans and detractors alike. On Saturday evening, the former had a special reason to celebrate.
MMA fighter Colby Covington, who has been a major LeBron detractor this year, suffered a loss in the final UFC fight of 2024. Covington, a welterweight fighter with a net worth of $4 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), lost his bout against Joaquin Buckley due to a doctor's stoppage. After the fight, LeBron fans expressed their delight on social media.
"Colby Covington got his a*s whooped again. Bron FC we up."

"Bron fc not to be messed with fr," another fan said.
Some fans were even more demonstrative in their disdain for Covington:
“'Colby sucks' chants in FLORIDA," one fan noted
"Annual tradition," another said.
For close to three rounds, Covington was dominated by Buckley, who blocked multiple takedown attempts and landed big blows. Due to Buckley's impeccable striking, Covington sustained a sizable cut around the area of his right eye.
With 18 seconds left in Round 3, the referee halted the fight and called for the doctor to take a look at Covington's face. They decided right there and then that Covington could not proceed any further.
LeBron James has been the recipient of savory words from Colby Covington
Why are the fans of the LA Lakers forward picking Covington apart? Because he has gone after their favorite player on multiple occasions this year. Days before his "UFC Fight Night" main event, Covington had a couple of questions for LeBron James:
"I wanna ask LeBron what does he mean by there's no party like a Diddy party," Covington said. "I truly want to know. And not only that, LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to?"
This appears to be a reference to an Instagram Live session four years ago in which James complimented hip hop mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs:
"Hey, everybody know, ain't no party like a Diddy party," James said in the IG session.
Combs, who currently faces federal charges that include sex trafficking and racketeering, replied:
"Yeah, that's what's up!"
Over the summer, Covington also had a strong reaction to the designation of James as the men's flagbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"You have 'Captain I Hate America' LeBron James bestowed the honor of carrying the stars and stripes," Covington said in an IG reel. "When I heard he was going to be the one carrying his country's flag, I thought it was going to be for China."
Here, Covington was doubling down on claims he made last year about James supposedly employing questionable means involving laborers in China to increase his wealth.
After Covington's latest loss in the octagon, LeBron's fans immediately gave him a piece of their mind, all while LeBron James himself stayed mum on the matter.
