Fans missed the chance to watch LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, participate in the All-Star festivities together. On Thursday's "Haynes Briefs," NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that the LA Lakers players were invited to be featured as participants in the Skills Challenge. However, the father-son duo reportedly declined the offer.

"LeBron James and Bronny James were sought out by the league with the opportunity to further make history by being the first father-son duo to participate in the Skills Challenge due on All-Star Weekend next month in San Francisco," Haynes said. "That invitation was turned down."

Haynes also reported that Bronny was offered a spot in the G League team that will participate in the All-Star game. The new format will feature a team of players from the G League to go against the All-Stars. However, that offer was also turned down.

Still, fans will potentially see the older James play in his 21st All-Star Game. The LA Lakers star is the only player with at least 20 All-Star appearances. Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is second with 19. The 2025 All-Star will be in San Francisco, with the Golden State Warriors as hosts.

After fans learned about the father-son duo declining to participate, they shared their thoughts on X (formerly Twitter).

"Bron knows they can’t win the Skills challenge," a fan said.
"They made history by being the first father/son duo to decline," another fan commented.
"Good that it was declined. If it was accepted it would have been nothing but negative energy," one fan said.

Other fans weren't happy with the final decision.

"WHY THEY DECLINE??! That would’ve been legendary bruh," one fan asked.
"They should've done it 😭," another fan said.
"This could have saved all star weekend," a fan commented.

Bronny James has built a reputation in the Lakers' locker room

In his first season, Bronny James has struggled to be a consistent player in the Lakers' rotation. Being the 55th pick and the 15th man on the roster has placed Bronny on the bench for the majority of the 2024-25 NBA season.

However, he's made the most of being with the team despite lacking minutes. On Wednesday's episode of "Buha's Block," LA Times' Dan Woike spoke about the experience of the rookie guard.

According to him, the son of the league's all-time leading scorer has been appreciated by the team. Woike told Jovan Buha that Bronny is a great locker room guy and that "people really like him."

Bronny has been limited to 11 games this season, averaging 0.4 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists. Despite his numbers, the former USC guard is getting the experience he needs to improve his game.
