Bronny James made his debut in the California Classic Summer League with the LA Lakers. The 19-year-old guard joined Dalton Knecht and other players, aiming to start the tournament on a high note and showcasing his talents against the Sacramento Kings.
After being selected at 55 in the 2024 NBA Draft, James was presented by the Lakers and now made his debut in this competition. The game ended with a blowout win for the Kings, 108-94, as they pulled away from the Lakers in the second half. Led by Adonis Arms, Jordan Ford and Antoine Davis, the Kings had no mercy on the Lakers, getting a blowout win to start their California Classic Summer League campaign.
Arms finished the game with 32 points on 68.8% shooting from the field, while Davis dropped 20 points in 16 minutes, making seven of his 11 attempts. Jordan Ford contributed 17 points, shooting 70% from the field and 75% from beyond the arc, hitting three of his four attempts.

Dalton Knecht wasn't the sharpest player on the court, either, as he only managed to score three of his 12 field-goal attempts. He only nailed one 3-pointer in four attempts and finished the match with a -15 plus-minus.
These two seemingly have a spot secured on the Lakers next season, but this first impression is shocking, especially for Knecht, who was selected at 17 and scored 12 points.
Blake Hinson with 17 points, Tommy Kuhse with 15 and Maxwell Lewis with 14, respectively, led the Lakers against the Kings.
When is Bronny James playing his second game in the California Classic Summer League?
After this game against the Kings, Bronny James will return to action tomorrow to face the Golden State Warriors in a game scheduled at 6:30 p.m. ET. The Lakers would return to action on Wednesday against the Miami Heat for a game scheduled at 7 p.m. ET.
They will make their debut in the NBA 2K25 Summer League next Friday, clashing with the Houston Rockets. There's still a lot of basketball to watch from Bronny James and Lakers fans must be hoping to see a better performance from him.
