The Detroit Pistons' luck has been good in the last few years, as they enter the 2024 NBA draft with the fifth and 53rd picks. While many are expecting a quality player for the fifth overall pick, some are curious if team owner Tom Gores would use their second-round pick to select his nephew, JZ Zaher.
Posting subpar numbers in college, averaging less than a point and having a dismal shooting percentage of 12.5%, Zaher's numbers are hardly eye-catching. Hence, the potential move raises some eyebrows about Tom Gores' plans to get his nephew to play for the Pistons.
Considering the connection between Zaher and Gores, fan reactions, especially on Reddit, are aplenty.
"Pistons drafting him in the lottery," posts xzerozeroninex.

"Sorry Pistons fans... "With the 5th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft the Detroit Pistons select..." mocks sheepish132.
Similarly, LeBron James' eldes son, Bronny, is entering the 2024 NBA draft. Creative replies suggest JZ Zahir and Bronny James should team up to form a super team in college to recalibrate their draft stock.
"NBA is becoming F1. Bronny and Zahir should make a super team to prove us all wrong," posts petertopolicy.
Fans also noticed the underwhelming stats of Zahir.
"12.5% FG is disgustingly unfathomable," said ozairh18.
"So 9 assists right? Like as many as I have," comments logjambam.
While Kai Sotto has a huge following, especially from Philippine basketball fans, fans would be puzzled to see Zahir get drafted over him.
"Imagine this guy got in before Kai Sotto and Kai Sotto is ass," said Frostfein3.
Detrioit has been in basketball mediocrity for the past years, so one fan feels that the team should be suspended for a year if they draft Zahir.
"If Detroit drafts this guy Adam Silver should suspend the team for a year," said theboyqueen.
Trajan Langdon is hired to be the Detroit Pistons POBO
The Detroit Pistons have three championships. However, the past years and the last decade have been mediocre to say the least as team owner Tom Gores looks for the right combination for success since buying the team in 2011.
GM Troy Weaver failed to build a competitive team to surround Cade Cunningham, and coach Monty Williams' rotations have been questioned by the fanbase, who want a president of Basketball Operations to fix the mess.
Trajan Langdon, a former Duke Blue Devil and New Orleans Pelicans executive, has been hired. He will have the authority to bring changes to the team, including the power to fire Troy Weaver and/or Monty Williams. He would also have a say on who to draft and even have an opinion about JZ Zahir.
Since the announcement of his hiring, it will be interesting to see what moves Langdon will make with Detriot as the 2024 NBA draft is set to happen in a few weeks.
