Franz and Mo Wagner have been teammates not just when they were kids, but also in the NBA with the Orlando Magic and the German national team. With the FIBA World Cup in 2023 and the Paris Olympics in 2024, the two have been tied together in their careers as basketball professionals all year round.

The Wagner brothers reflected on their rollercoaster year together, from international tournaments to the NBA, where they have been making strides in their careers.

“I was in Michigan one day by myself, then you were in Berlin for three days,” Franz said on Saturday on how many days they were not together in the past year, via Thomas Pletzinger. "Four days. Since the World Cup, I think we’re together the whole time. I’ve seen you every day. That’s nice isn’t it."
“Yeah great. We should think about that,” Mo said.

Alongside fellow NBA player Dennis Schroder, the Wagner brothers steered Germany to the FIBA World Cup title in 2023 in Manila, Philippines, giving them the chance to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In Paris, the Germans lost to the Nikola Jokic-led Serbia team in the bronze medal game.

In the NBA, the two have also had each other's back as they have been teammates with the Magic since Franz was drafted in 2021.

Franz has become a cornerstone of Orlando’s bright future as he is averaging 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game this season, turning himself into a star alongside Paolo Banchero.

Meanwhile, Mo Wagner has been a serviceable center for the team, putting up 12.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season. The Magic are 19-14 and fourth in the Eastern Conference.

Mo Wagner ends season with knee surgery after torn ACL

Mo Wagner’s 2024 NBA season ended abruptly as he underwent knee surgery to repair his torn ACL on Dec. 23.

Wagner suffered the injury in the first quarter of a game against the Miami Heat on Dec. 22. Mo only played 30 games this season.

The injury added to the Magic’s injury woes, as their top two stars, Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, have been nursing torn oblique muscles.

Franz, who was in street clothes against the Heat, watched in disbelief as his brother was carried off the floor. The two will have to watch their teammates on the sidelines as they continue to battle this season.
