Bryce Harper donning Patrick Beverley's jersey in Game 7 has fans riled up over Phillies exit: "How’d that work out for him"

Bryce Harper donned a Patrick Beverley jersey ahead of Game 7 of the League Championship Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Beverley is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers and Harper was wearing the latest "City Edition" jersey. However, the decision didn't work out quite well for him as fans are constantly trolling him online.

Patrick Beverley isn't the 76ers best player. He is a role player looking for a new home in the league. This is his fourth team in three years and many aren't sure if he will last in Pennsylvania as well.

Harper's decision to not wear Joel Embiid's jersey, a bonafide superstar and the reigning MVP, or one of a Sixers legend like Allen Iverson, Wilt Chamberlain or Charles Barkley has seemingly upset a lot of Philadelphia sports fans.

To exacerbate matters, the Philadelphia Phillies lost Game 7 to the Diamondbacks. Bryce Harper had a fantastic postseason run with the Phillies but it unfortunately came to an end tonight. The Phillies finished the season second in the National League East and defeated the 1st-seeded Atlanta Braves in the Division Series. However, after leading 3-2 against the D-backs in the League Championship Series, they squandered it and lost Game 7 at home.

Fans were brutal on X, formerly Twitter, mocking him for his choice of pregame attire:

Fans speculated that Harper may be unaware that the number 22 belonged to Patrick Beverley or he didn't know who Beverley was and was just wearing a new Philadelphia 76ers jersey.

Several fans instantly suggested that the Diamondbacks would win because he chose the jersey of someone who isn't a winner. Jokes about choosing the under and picking every bet supporting Arizona were circulating on social media.

Patrick Beverley has high praise for Bryce Harper after coming to Philadelphia

Patrick Beverley had a lot of praise for Harper on his podcast after the latter wore his jersey to one of the biggest games of the MLB postseason. Beverley said he felt the love and appreciation for the Philadelphia Phillies after getting to Pennsylvania and wouldn't have felt this way if he was living elsewhere.

He gave a shoutout to Harper and told him that he was a huge fan. On his Barstool Sports podcast "PatBevPod", Beverley said:

"Shoutout to Bryce Harper (He’s a beast)…And it’s crazy, you only feel it when you get to the city too. If I was in Cali and the Phillies were (great), you wouldn’t feel it the way I feel it now."

Beverley said that he was considering returning the favor and wearing a Bryce Harper headband' to the game:

"I was thinking about coming to the game with the Bryce Harper headband, the candy cane joint. Yeah man, he’s inspiring. I don’t know Bryce Harper if you listen to the pod but bro like man I’m a big fan bro…If you listen to the pod bro, you got big fans over here."

Unfortunately for Philadelphia fans, the Phillies lost Game 7 and their chance to play in the World Series. The 76ers play their season opener on October 26th against the Milwaukee Bucks.
