Fans reacted as Buddy Hield shot 3-for-14, including 1-for-9 from deep on Sunday in the Golden State Warriors’ 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers. Hield failed to step up, particularly when Steph Curry went down with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter.

The shooting guard had several open looks but couldn’t deliver when his team needed him the most. Hield’s rough-shooting night had fans reacting on X, formerly Twitter:

“Buddy Hield devil magic wore off,” one wrote.

“Warriors fans said he was better than Klay”

Buddy Hield debuted for the Warriors against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. He scored 22 points, hitting 8-for-12 field goals, including 5-of-7 shots from behind the arc.

Two nights later, he finished with 27 points behind 10-for-14 shooting and made 7-of-9 3-pointers. The figures meant that he drained 69.2% of his attempts, including 75% of his 3s, numbers that were impossible to sustain in an entire season.

Hield, however, has been consistently good as a shooter. Hield’s shooting split of 43.5%/40.1%/86.0% in 634 games is impressive. Over the last five seasons (per Statmuse), his 1,064 made 3s are second only to teammate Steph Curry's 1,263.

After the loss to the Clippers, Steve Kerr took Hield’s poor shooting in stride, confident that the veteran guard would bounce back.

Buddy Hield and the Golden State Warriors face the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back games

Buddy Hield could redeem himself in front of Golden State Warriors fans in their next two games.

The Dubs host Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and Wednesday. If Curry is less than 100% or unable to play due to an ankle injury, Hield’s shooting would be crucial to the hosts.

In 19 games against the Pelicans, Hield has averaged 15.7 points on 44.2% shooting, including 37.4% from deep. Fans will be interested to see if he can at least hit his averages or have another disappointing night.
