"Burn them s**ts"- Lakers fans irate after losing 6 out of 7 games in City Edition jerseys

The LA Lakers fans believed the City Edition jerseys were a key factor in the team's blowout 126-102 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday. The Lakers now have lost three games to Texas teams and worse, are 1-6 in the special jerseys.

The focus was on the jerseys when LA was undone by below-par defense and non-existent offense in the second half of the game.

One of the fans minced no words in the tweets that followed.

"Burn them s***ts"

One of the fans offered a new name for the jerseys:

"Rename em the LakeNo unis."

A suggestion was quick to come in:

"Time to wear all black"

One of the fans believed binning them was a solution:

"Not only are they ugly jerseys, but they can’t win a game in them. TRASH THEM NOW!!!"

Another opined:

"The jerseys are fire but bad luck I guess"

A fan had a more simple solution:

"Ban these jerseys please"

LA was outplayed by some solid play on both ends of the floor. Stephon Castle (23 points), Victor Wembanyama (23 points and eight rebounds), and Devin Vassell (23 points) were key for the Spurs. The Lakers were led by Anthony Davis' DD2 (30 points and 13 rebounds) while LeBron James had a quiet night with 18 points and eight assists.

JJ Redick rues defensive woes for the Lakers

Speaking to the media postgame, Lakers head coach JJ Redick rued the lack of efforts defensively as the side continues to rely heavily on Anthony Davis to do the bulk of the job on that side of the floor.

JJ Redick: "For 3 games now, we've had a real slippage defensively"

LA lost the battle in the second half as the likes of Castle and Vassell turned on the jets to score effortlessly. The Purple and Gold were forced to use Davis sparingly after the center was in foul trouble with three fouls already. Jaxson Hayes and new acquisition Dorian Finney-Smith were not enough for the side defensively as the hosts allowed San Antonio to creep back into the game.

Up next, the Lakers are now 0-3 in their last three games and 20-17 with the latest trouncing face the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Only time will tell if they can bounce back strong against the defiant Heat side and snap their losing streak.
