During the Boston Celtics' matchup with the Detroit Pistons Wednesday, Jaylen Brown had a choice celebration following a dunk. Days later, fans erupted on social media after seeing the Finals MVP receive a fine from the NBA.

Towards the end of the first quarter, Brown threw down a dunk over Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart. On his way back down the court, he did a cutthroat motion toward the opposing center.

On Friday afternoon, the league office announced that Jaylen Brown has been assessed a $25,000 fine for his actions. Following this development, fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the punishment.

Fans proceeded to jab at the league, calling the decision to fine Brown soft. They also criticized the NBA for not letting its players show emotion following big plays on the court.

"10/10 celly, league weak." One fan said.
"The league so soft that was cold," another fan said.
"They wonder why ratings down can’t show any emotion or have fun," said one fan.

With Jayson Tatum out of the lineup, Brown was the focal point of the Celtics' offense against the Pistons. The All-Star forward did a little bit of everything in the 130-120 win, finishing with 28 points, six rebounds, nine assists and three steals.

Before he was issued a fine by the league office, Jaylen Brown shared his thoughts on his choice celebration against the Detroit Pistons. He took a slight jab at the league, saying it can be sensitive at times. Overall, Brown said he went with that celebration after getting caught up in the moment of a big play.

"I think that the NBA and the PA are sensitive about the gestures and things like that," Brown said. "So got to be mindful of that."

Later on in his postgame press conference, Jaylen Brown was asked if he thought a fine was in his future for his action. The Boston Celtics star expected things to unfold how they have.

"Oh yeah," Brown said when asked about a possible fine.

For someone like Brown, a $25,000 fine isn't breaking the bank. Back in the summer of 2023, he inked a five-year deal with the Celtics worth $285.3 million. This season alone, Brown is set to earn $49.2 million.

Fresh off winning conference finals and Finals MVP, Brown is putting together another strong season for the Celtics. On the season, he is averaging 25.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
