Behind a breakout season from Cade Cunningham, the Detroit Pistons have become one of the NBA's most talked-about teams. As they continue their massive turnaround, the rising star gave a positive remark regarding the team's mindset.
Last season was one to forget for the Pistons, finishing with the NBA's worst record. Their struggles were headlined by a historically long 28-game losing streak. However, Detroit has looked like a completely different team to kick off 2025.
On Wednesday night, the Pistons took down the Brooklyn Nets to move to 19-18 on the season. That ended up being a monumental victory for them, as it marked the first time they've been over .500 in January in seven years.
While talking about the Pistons success, Cade Cunningham made it clear that what they've accomplished so far isn't enough. The group is still locked in mentally as they continue stockpile wins.

“It feels good,” Cunningham told The Athletic. “We’re still hungry though, man. We’re not satisfied."
The former No. 1 pick has been one of the NBA's top guards this year, entering himself in the conversation to be an All-Star. On the season, Cunningham is averaging 24.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 9.3 assists.
Along with sitting above .500, the Pistons are knocking on the door of ending their playoff drought. They sit in eighth place but are only a half-game behind the coveted sixth seed.
Kendrick Perkins backs Cade Cunningham's All-Star case
As Cade Cunningham continues to dazzle for the Detroit Pistons, his All-Star case has slowly gotten strong. Following his dominant outing over the weekend, one former NBA champion said that the young guard is deserving of a nod this year.
On Saturday night, the Pistons squared off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It would end up being a duel between a pair of former top picks, and Cunningham and Anthony Edwards had big nights. Despite a career-high 53 points from the Timberwolves star, it was the Pistons who walked away with a win.
A big reason why the Pistons were able to spoil Edwards' night was the play of Cade Cunningham. He did it all for Detroit, finishing with a stat line of 40 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
NBA fans were buzzing on social media following this matchup, with Kendrick Perkins even entering the fray. The former Boston Celtics big man took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare that Cunningham should be an All-Star.
Cunningham has a lot of guards to compete with in the Eastern Conference when it comes to an All-Star spot. However, given how he's performed thus far, he has a chance to either break through or be one of this year's biggest snubs.
