OKC Thunder guard Lu Dort and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green were involved in an altercation in the fourth quarter of their game on Sunday. Dort held Green as they raced down the court towards the Warriors’ end of the floor.
The former Defensive Player of the Year, unable to free his arm, lashed out with his elbow to hit the Oklahoma defensive ace.
Upon review, Dort was called for a holding foul while Green received a technical foul for “unsportsmanlike flailing.” Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made the free throw once the game resumed.

Replays showed Draymond Green struck Lu Dort in the head with an elbow. The analysts calling the game were surprised the Warriors’ defensive lynchpin wasn’t tossed out of the game. Green would have been ejected if the referees called the hit a flagrant 2 foul.
Green’s presence was critical for the Warriors as the Thunder desperately attempted to rally late in the game. After OKC cut the lead to 114-108, Green dished back-to-back assists to Jonathan Kuminga and Steph Curry to give the Warriors a 119-108 cushion.
Curry hit the crucial shots, but Green’s defense and playmaking were just as important in holding off the Thunder.
Lu Dort didn’t think Draymond Green’s hit against him was intentional
Lu Dort and the OKC Thunder lost to Draymond Green’s Golden State Warriors 127-116 in a fiercely contested game.
Dort had this to say in his press conference when asked about the skirmish with Green:
“Just competing. I don’t think he meant to hit me in my head. … He was trying to sell a foul. I did grab him.”
The Thunder and the Warriors were No. 1 and No. 2 in defensive rating leading into their matchup on Sunday. Basketball fans saw the defensive slugfest and then some.
