NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, eligible to be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame with the Class of 2025, spoke about the NBA's Christmas Day slate of games. While Christmas Day is typically dominated by the NBA, the NFL is making a push to gain some traction of its own.
Although the NFL has dominated the US Thanksgiving holiday before, it's been clear over the past few years that the league is looking to enter the NBA's territory by hosting games on Christmas.
During the latest episode of his "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast, Anthony spoke about the NFL's decision to book not one, but two games on Christmas Day. While speaking with Sam Jay, Bomani Jones and Kazeem Famuyide, Anthony said:
"NFL, you know y'all wrong for that, man. You know, that's our day, man. ... You dealing with the Queen B, man. ... It should work in tandem. NBA, NFL. I mean, we all on the same day. Like, let's not overlap. No s**t, If you wanna really make this work. But NFL saying 'f**k that.' ... money talk, bulls**t walk man.

This is NBA, this is Christmas on NBA. Like, waking up, opening your toys, watching Knicks, Boston on Christmas. This is what we talking about. NFL, you come disrupt that? But Adam, you know, we more collaborative nowadays, you know what I'm saying? It ain't the iron fist. It's we more collaborative."
Carmelo Anthony weighs in on potential LeBron James trade ahead of Lakers' Christmas Day game
One of the biggest storylines heading into this year's Christmas slate of NBA games is the clash between the LA Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
NBA legends LeBron James and Steph Curry have gone to war on several occasions. However, they most recently joined forces with Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Now, with both future Hall of Famers in the twilight years of their respective careers, they will compete once more on Christmas Day.
Over the past few weeks, there has been talk about James potentially requesting a trade to Golden State. The two front offices discussed the trade last season and again over the summer to no avail.
With both teams struggling to claw their way to the top of a stacked Western Conference, trade talk has resurfaced. The way Carmelo Anthony sees things, however, it seems like the trade window has closed.
“LeBron makes the trades, so if he wants to get traded, he’ll get traded," he said. "I think that window closed shut. Like it was a point in time, maybe last year or little bit of time ago, where it was like, there was a thought that ‘Damn, this could be possibility.’"
While trade talk has died down, and the odds of LA parting ways with James after signing him to an extension this summer seems unlikely, there's still plenty of time between now and the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
