Longtime NBA forward Carmelo Anthony is one of many former players with children climbing the ranks in the basketball world. As his son gets ready to start a new chapter of his journey, he shared his thoughts on the child of another former All-Star.

Kiyan Anthony is in the midst of his senior year of high school and recently committed to Carmelo's alma mater Syracuse. Upon reclassifying, Gilbert Arenas' son Alijah is now also a part of the class of 2025.

Earlier this week, ESPN put out an updated list of their top 100 list for the class of 2025. Alijah was slotted in at No. 15, while Kiyan came in at No. 36. After the new rankings hit social media, Carmelo Anthony gave Alijah his flowers.

Arenas, a five-star recruit, is the second-ranked prospect at his position, and the third-ranked in the state of California. He has received offers from a handful of D-1 programs. Following his decision to reclassify, this list is sure to grow. Alijah has offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, California and Fresno State.

As for Kiyan, he had the opportunity to tell the world of his college decision while on his father's "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast in November.

Kiyan Anthony reflects on decision to follow Carmelo Anthony and play for Syracuse

It goes without saying that Kiyan Anthony choosing Syracuse was a special moment for Carmelo Anthony. When he announced his retirement from the NBA, he talked about passing the torch to his son. Now, he gets to see him emerge on the same stage he did over two decades ago.

During an interview with Jayson Buford, Kiyan spoke on the decision to follow in his dad's footsteps at Syracuse. He didn't deny the family connections to the program but said that his choice had to do with more than just that.

"I feel like a part of it was obviously the connection that my dad went there, but mostly just how they could see me fitting in there and recruiting me for myself," Kiyan said. "He did big things there, but I’m my own player and I’m trying to do bigger things when it comes to basketball. So I feel like I made a good choice and I’m happy."

In 2003, Carmelo Anthony delivered Syracuse an NCAA title in his lone college season. He was one of the top players in the country that year, which resulted in him being selected third overall in the iconic 2003 NBA draft.

Now that his decision is set in stone, Kiyan will attempt to bring similar success to the famed program next year.
