As Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic took the Dallas Mavericks to the cusp of the NBA Finals with a Game 3 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets fans slammed the franchise for the way they treated their superstar guard. Nets fans did not hold back on social media as they lambasted their team amid Irving's solid run with the Mavericks. On Sunday, he poured 33 points, three rebounds, and four assists in the team's 116-107 win over the T-Wolves.
Irving had a tumultuous off-court tenure with Brooklyn —from his COVID-19 vaccination stance to being suspended for promoting an anti-semitic film on Twitter/X, the guard faced constant criticism. He was subsequently traded to the Mavericks. While his first season with the side saw them make a regular season exit, the second has proved to be more fruitful as Dallas has enjoyed a deeper run in the playoffs.
As for the fans, they had enough to say.
"Kyrie Irving deserves an apology from the Brooklyn Nets organization, they castrated him, treated him like a child, suspended him, & fined him. He’s a great human being & an incredible basketball player. The NBA is lucky to have him."

"It’s weird it took Kyrie playing post season basketball for y’all to figure out he’s a good human being, but it’s better late than never"

"facts 💯"
@helatribe added:
"Went on a 15-game streak after being suspended"
Dallas fans had their two cents to share as well:
"WE LOVE KYRIE IN DALLAS, all the CHATTER doesn’t MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!"
@victorpiercejr1 had a solid comparison:
"KYRIE is the NEW KOBE!!!"
With the Nets, Kyrie Irving was looked at as one of the stars leading the side to a title win alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden. That though wasn't meant to be as Harden asked out and inked a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, while Durant was a blockbuster trade to the Phoenix Suns.
Kyrie Irving gives off Kobe Bryant vibes after the Mavs take a dominant 3-0 series lead
Despite his field day, Kyrie Irving made it clear that the Mavericks weren't out of the woods until they bagged the series win. He echoed the sentiments of the late Kobe Bryant who famously said, "The job's not finished" during the 2009 NBA Finals.
“It means absolutely nothing right now. That’s not even something I’m thinking about. Going into Game 4, it’s still 0-0, and that’s the type of motivation and mentality we had in that locker room. It’s not just me. We feel like the job isn’t finished.”
Kyrie Irving is averaging 27.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists and has been the perfect foil for Luka Doncic, who is propping up 32.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists. Only time will tell if they close out the series in a decisive Game 4.
