Charles Barkley hilariously threatened Netherlands international Memphis Depay for calling him out on Twitter. Depay mocked Barkley following their win over the United States in the Round of 16 of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
On the "Steam Room" podcast, Barkley gave a shoutout to the USMNT for their performance during the World Cup. He also said that he found out about Depay's callout on Twitter and threatened him with a "can of whoop-a**."
"I wanna give a shoutout to US men's soccer," Barkley said. "Obviously, we lost to the Netherlands. I saw this dude take a shot at me, from the Netherlands. ... And this dude took a shot at me on Twitter, apparently. He says, 'You're all bark and no bite.'
Barkley continued:

"He took a shot at me. His name was Memphis something. Memphis, when I see you, I'm gonna open up a can of whoop-a** on you." Memphis, whatever your last name is, somebody named you after a city."
What did Charles Barkley say before USMNT faced Netherlands?
Before the United States took on Netherlands, Charles Barkley was very confident about USMNT's chances of advancing. So much so that he guaranteed their victory in an episode of "Inside the NBA."
"We going to the Netherlands, we're opening up a can of whoop-a**," Barkley said. "I guarantee the Netherlands are in trouble. ... We going on. Hey, I want Spain, I want Brazil, I want Germany, I want France. They got that boy (Kylian) Mbappe over there at France; he ain't no joke. But we're gonna beat the Netherlands."
Unfortunately, the Netherlands won the game 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals to face Lionel Messi and Argentina. Memphis Depay opened the scoring in the tenth minute, with Daley Blind adding another before the end of the first half.
Haji Wright pulled one back for the United States in the 76th minute. Just when the momentum was on the USMNT's side, Denzel Dumfries scored the Netherlands' third five minutes later.
The scoreline might have favored the Netherlands, but the United States dominated possession. They also had more shots and shots on target but lacked finishing. The Netherlands were more dangerous in their attacks and were very clinical with their finishing.
Memphis Depay finished off after the game by posting an image of "Sir Charles" looking flabbergasted.
