Charles Barkley always had weight problems during his NBA and post-playing career. However, Barkley surprised a lot of people in the offseason when he shared the news of his 60-pound weight loss. He looked slimmer to open the 2023-24 season on "Inside the NBA" and fans were happy for him.
In an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" back in May, Barkley explained how he lost 62 pounds using exercise, diet and Mounjaro shots. His doctor gave him a wake-up call regarding his weight issues, so he decided to make changes.
"I started at 352 (lbs.)," Barkley said. "And I'm down to 290. I'm starting to feel like a human being, not a fat ass anymore. ... "My doctor told me, she says, 'There's a lot of fat young people. Ain't a lot of fat old people, they're all dead.'"

Charles Barkley battled weight problems during his career
"Sir Charles" had a legendary career despite battling weight problems from his time at Auburn to the NBA. Barkley famously gained weight before the 1984 draft because he didn't want to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
However, the Sixers still selected him and it was a blessing in disguise. The veteran players of the team like Moses Malone and Julius Erving helped him get in shape. They also taught him to dress like a professional basketball player and save his money.
Barkley might not have won an NBA championship, but he still had a great career. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 as a player and in 2010 as a member of Team USA. His post-playing career as an analyst and host might have also been better.
