Hailing from Leeds, Alabama, Charles Barkley ensured he never forgot where he came from. The Hall of Famer played high school basketball for Leeds before playing three seasons with Alabama-based Auburn University. In each of his three years in college, Barkley led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in rebounding.

Despite his talents taking him worldwide, Barkley continued using his money and platform to make positive changes in his home state. From donating $1 million to ALS research in the state to donating another million dollars to two HBCUs in the state, Charles Barkley has put his money where his mouth is.

Regarding investing, Barkley has a similar mindset; his focus remains in his home state. Several years ago, he became the majority owner of Redmont Vodka, the first legal distillery in Alabama since prohibition. The company has made a massive push in recent years, partly due to Barkley's impact as an owner and spokesman.

He stated at a promotional event for the brand:

"I'm a vodka splash of cranberry guy. I love vodka. I really think our product is really good or I wouldn't have bought the company."
"This is my hometown and to do an event here, and I want to thank Logans for picking up the vodka, but to do an event in Leeds makes it even more special. This is my hometown. Means a lot to me… I just want to see Leeds do well and thrive."

One of the best examples of Charles Barkley's selfless nature was when he donated nearly a quarter of a million dollars to Leeds City School employees. The random act of kindness came amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and saw Barkley give each of the 200 employees $1,000.

At the time, the school district expressed gratitude to the NBA superstar for his generous donation, given how much the faculty had gone through.

“We are humbled and wish to express our sincere gratitude to Charles Barkley for providing a $1,000 gift to each and every Leeds City Schools employee for going the extra mile this school year."

At the time, his donation brought his reported total donations to the city of Leeds up to $3 million over the years.

Currently, Charles Barkley's Redmont Vodka is available nationwide. According to the company's website, the gluten-free spirit is eight times distilled and filtered through an advanced carbon filtration system. The process makes the product a smoother, more refined-tasting one.
