Derrick Rose finished his career as one of the greatest players in Chicago Bulls history. Rose led the Bulls to the playoffs in six of his seven seasons in Chicago and became the youngest player to win the Most Valuable Player award in NBA history in 2010-11, his third season in the league.
The 2008-09 Rookie of the Year may not wind up in the Hall of Fame, but will undoubtedly see his signature No. 1 jersey hoisted into the rafters of the United Center. At least he'd prefer it that way.
On Friday, Rose made his decision between having his jersey retired and being honored with a statue, offering a humorous reason behind his decision.
"With the way people are creating the statues, no. My jersey being retired, I would love that," Rose said.

Rose went for his jersey retirement, throwing shade at Dwyane Wade's viral statue, which garnered immense criticism at the time of its revealing.
Chicago Bulls potentially hinting at Derrick Rose jersey retirement
There has been a common theme on the Chicago Bulls' Instagram feed over the last few days, with no shortage of videos and photos remembering the career of Derrick Rose. Rose returned to Chicago on Jan. 2, opening a one-day pop-up flower stand to meet fans around the city.
A jersey retirement would be no surprise, as few are more deserving of the honor than the 2010-11 MVP. Rose gave back to his community throughout his time in Chicago and the city is honoring him for all his efforts on and off the court.
Jan. 4 was also officially marked as Derrick Rose Day in Chicago, with the Rose Garden set to open yearly to give fans the opportunity to meet the local legend and three-time All-Star.
In seven years in Chicago, Rose averaged 19.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He was an All-NBA first-team selection during his MVP campaign and brought countless memories to Bulls fans around Chicago.
Back in September, Rose announced his retirement from the NBA after 15 seasons, suiting up for the Bulls, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers.
