Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors Game Summary
In the first quarter, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers went back and forth to start the game. The hosts were going toe-to-toe against the team with the best record in the league. It was a team-oriented period for Golden State since all of their players who earned minutes were able to score.
On the other hand, Darius Garland had eight points for the Cavaliers. The Warriors' defense did its job limiting Cleveland to just 41.7% shooting and forcing six turnovers. Golden State had a slim 27-26 lead after the first 12 minutes.
The second quarter was not a good basketball game to watch as both teams struggled to make a basket. The Cavaliers finally turned it up midway through the period to build a 46-38 lead at halftime.
Golden State was flat-out terrible in the quarter, missing easy layups and clanking wide-open 3-point shots. They also had five turnovers in the quarter, leading to easy points for the Cavs. They needed to play better if they wanted to end the year on a high note.
However, a couple of bad calls from officials and a couple of threes blew the game wide-open for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Golden State Warriors were frustrated and their body language quickly changed as the Cavs began to dominate.
Cleveland was ahead by 25 points at the 4:30 mark of the third quarter, as the game was essentially over. The Warriors were able to trim it to 18 points entering the final period, but a comeback wasn't on the cards.
Both teams emptied their bench midway through the fourth as the Cavs cruised to another win. They improved to 28-4 for the season, which is still the best record in the NBA. The Warriors, on the other hand, are now 16-16 and 10th in the Western Conference standings.
