Paul George led the charge for Philadelphia with 30 points, while Tyrese Maxey added 29 in the absence of Joel Embiid.
Kelly Oubre Jr. made his presence felt inside with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Guerschon Yabusele contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds. Eric Gordon and Justin Edwards each chipped in 15 for the 76ers.

Cleveland leaned heavily on their backcourt, as Donovan Mitchell poured in a game-high 37 points. Ty Jerome and Darius Garland supported him with 33 and 26 points, respectively.

A showdown between two Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls unfolded during Friday’s matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. The Cavaliers entered the game with the league’s best record (36-7) despite coming off a loss, while the 76ers (15-27) were battling through an NBA-worst seven-game losing streak.
Taking advantage of their home court, the 76ers started strong as Tyrese Maxey knocked down three triples, scoring 14 points and dishing out four assists to lead Philadelphia to a 39-33 edge after the first quarter.
Donovan Mitchell responded in the second quarter, dropping 11 points to help the Cavaliers find their rhythm. Cleveland outscored Philadelphia 34-25 in the period, taking a 67-64 lead into halftime.
At the break, Maxey was the game’s leading scorer with 19 points, while Kelly Oubre Jr. added 11 for the 76ers.
On Cleveland’s side, Mitchell tallied 16 first-half points, with Darius Garland contributing 12 and Ty Jerome adding 11 in the absence of Evan Mobley.
Both teams showcased their perimeter shooting, each sinking 12 3-pointers by halftime.
The second half featured a tightly contested battle, with the 76ers outscoring the Cavaliers by five.
The fourth quarter was packed with drama. Ty Jerome drained a step-back 3 to give Cleveland a 116-110 lead with 6:17 remaining, but the 76ers responded with a decisive 13-0 run, highlighted by an Eric Gordon 3-pointer, to take a seven-point lead with 3:19 left.
Donovan Mitchell hit clutch free throws, and Darius Garland and Ty Jerome nailed back-to-back triples to cut the deficit to one, 127-126, with 11.5 seconds on the clock.
Maxey extended Philadelphia’s lead to three by sinking two free throws. With the Cavaliers looking to tie, Ty Jerome misfired an inbound pass, turning the ball over.
Maxey was fouled again and coolly sank both free throws. Although Mitchell hit a triple to keep Cleveland alive, Justin Edwards sealed the win with a free throw, as the buzzer sounded on a 132-129 victory for the 76ers.
