Even non-NBA fans have learned about Stephen Curry by now. The Golden State Warriors point guard has arguably been the most influential player of his generation. He has won four NBA championships and changed the way the game is played as a whole.
Nonetheless, as much credit as he deserves for this and for being the greatest shooter of all time, comedian Katt Williams believes he's actually the one who should get the credit:
“Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t claim the sh*t I do,” Williams said on an episode of the Good One podcast that was recorded live at Vulture Festival in November. “But I am responsible for the greatest shooter in the NBA, without question.”
The controversial comedian claimed that it all started when a young and unknown Curry played in some of the games he organized. Williams claims that he encouraged him to pull up from anywhere on the court:

“If you can shoot before people can start defense,” he allegedly told Curry, “you’ll be the greatest shooter that ever lived. The jury will decide whether or not I’m being facetious.”
Shaq blames Stephen Curry for NBA ratings going down
Not everybody is so high on Curry's elite shooting, though. Some have blamed this new era for the viewership problems the league is going through right now, including NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal.
"It’s down because we’re looking at the same thing. Everybody is running the same plays," Shaq said on his podcast in November. "Steph Curry and those guys messed it up. I don’t mind Golden State back in the day shooting threes, but every team isn’t a 3-point shooter. So, why everybody has the same strategy? I think it makes the game boring."
Shaq believes that the actual problem isn't Curry himself but the fact that multiple people want to imitate his playing style when he's a unique player:
"The game has already been perfect ever since Naismith created it," Shaq continued. "This new era of humans f**ked it up. Golden State came in and changed it. Everybody wants to be Steph Curry, but everybody’s not Steph Curry. And that’s why viewership is down. But these dudes, they need to wake up because if viewership is down, the money is gonna come down."
At the end of the day, the game has been ever-evolving. If this isn't working out anymore, it's just a matter of time before something different comes along to change the league.
