Kevin Durant was a happy football fan Saturday night after his Washington Commanders defeated the Detroit Lions in the NFL divisional round. Durant even taunted teammate and Lions fan Devin Booker about losing their bet ahead of the Phoenix Suns' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
Speaking to Suns beat reporter Duane Rankin, Durant expressed his excitement that the Commanders are heading to the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time since 1991.
He also addressed his bet with Booker, who is set to lose $1,610 in total per diem, according to The Arizona Republic.
"We're going to keep that on the low," Durant said. "Not going to press him out. Whenever he ready, I'll be ready. Be here all year."

The Detroit Lions entered Saturday’s game as the favorites but committed four turnovers in a 45-31 loss to the Commanders. Washington was led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Phoenix Suns were in Detroit on Saturday and defeated the Pistons, 125-121. Since Little Caesars Arena is located next to Ford Field, Suns players were able to watch the rest of the Commanders-Lions game live.
Kevin Durant celebrated the Commanders’ victory inside the team’s locker room, wearing a Brian Robinson Jr. No. 8 jersey and joining the star running back in the postgame festivities.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Durant grew up a fan of the Washington Redskins, as the team was formerly known. Despite the franchise’s struggles over the years, Durant remained a loyal supporter. Their last Super Bowl victory came in 1991, when the two-time NBA champion was just 3 years old.
Kevin Durant reacts to Washington Commanders win
The Washington Commanders reached the NFC Championship Game for the first time since winning the Super Bowl in 1991. The team wasn’t expected to perform this well following a four-win season last year.
Washington used the No. 2 pick in the draft to select Jayden Daniels, who helped lead the team to a 13-5 regular-season record. The Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round before upsetting the 15-2 Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
Washington had a tough task in beating the 15-2 Detroit Lions at Ford Field, but they managed to pull through. Kevin Durant was very excited about the win as the Commanders had their most successful season in more than 30 years.
"One of the most exciting times of my life," Durant said. "I can't lie. Been a Commanders fan, it's been tough in the last 20-25 years, but to see something like that. 33 years since we've been in an NFC Championship game. It was special."
The Commanders will face the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC title next week at Lincoln Financial Field.
