Magic Johnson is a happy owner after his Washington Commanders defeated the Detroit Lions in the NFL Divisional Round on Saturday night. Johnson reacted to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leading the Commanders to their first NFC Championship game since 1991.
The LA Lakers legend celebrated the Commanders' second straight playoff victory. Washington outlasted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 in last week's Wild Card matchup. He also pointed out how Daniels made history by throwing 300+ yards in his first two playoff games.
"Congratulations to Jayden Daniels for becoming the first Rookie in NFL History with 300+ total yards in 2 Playoff games!" Johnson tweeted.

Magic Johnson is part of the ownership group headed by Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris that bought the Washington Commanders from Daniel Snyder in May 2023.
After a terrible first season under their new owners, the Commanders drafted Jayden Daniels second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels led the team to a 14-5 record and will likely end up winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He threw for 3,568 yards, including 25 touchdowns, while completing 69.0% of his passes.
In the NFL Divisional Round against the Detroit Lions, Daniels went 22-for-31 and threw two touchdowns to lead the Commanders to a 45-31 win. They will face the winner of the Los Angeles Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles next week for a chance at reaching the Super Bowl for the first time since winning it all in 1991.
Magic Johnson won the World Series last year with the LA Dodgers
Throughout his basketball career, Magic Johnson was known as a winner. Johnson led Michigan State to the NCAA championship in 1979 and won an NBA Title as a rookie with the LA Lakers the following year. He added four more championships in the 1980s, as well as an Olympic gold medal in 1992.
After his coaching and hosting career didn't pan out, Johnson turned to business and became a self-made billionaire in 2023. One of his biggest investments is in sports, and he owns several teams besides the Washington Commanders.
He's also part of the ownership of the LA Dodgers in MLB, the LA Sparks in the WNBA, Los Angeles FC in the MLS and Washington Spirit in the NWSL.
As part of Dodgers ownership, Johnson added another championship last year after LA beat the New York Yankees to win the World Series. It was his second title with the Dodgers, winning his first in 2020.
Johnson also won five titles as a part-owner of the LA Lakers in the 2000s, one with the Sparks in 2016 and one with LAFC in 2022.
