Previously, D'Angelo Russell played two seasons with the Nets during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. In two years, Russell averaged 19.0 points, 6.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He also shot 42.8% including 35.5% from the 3-point line.

Interestingly, it was in New York that Russell and Ivaniukas met each other. The couple made their relationship public in June 2020 after they went on a holiday to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. Two years later, on Sept. 24, 2022, the couple welcomed their son Riley Jonas.

The trade to Brooklyn ended Russell's second stint in LA. He was selected second by the Lakers in the 2015 NBA draft. After playing his first two seasons with the Lakers, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

Nick Young seemingly sends warning to D'Angelo Russell after being traded from Lakers

The infamous fallout between D'Angelo Russell and Nick Young in 2016 continues to make news. After Russell was traded from the LA Lakers to the Nets, Young seemingly had a strong message for the guard.

"AND STAY OUT... Dnt bring yo ass back to LA," Young wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The fallout between the former teammates happened in 2016 when Russell recorded Young talking about other women while he was engaged to then-fiancée Iggy Azalea. The video later got leaked, but Russell has maintained that he didn’t leak it.

"We play around and we joke and we laugh and we say things that you don’t really repeat," Russell told reporters in March 2016. "That was just an incident of just ‘playing too much goes wrong.’ I take the full blame for that, recording the video. But leaking the video wasn’t me."

Young had also told reporters that they would work it out between themselves. However, despite saying that "he couldn’t be mad forever," Young seems to still be holding the grudge.
