The Dallas Mavericks are set to face the defending champion Boston Celtics in a regular season game on Saturday. The Mavericks have been dealing with a slew of injuries and head coach Jason Kidd is expected to be without several key players, including Luka Doncic, for the foreseeable future.

Klay Thompson is listed as "questionable" due to a left ankle sprain, which has sidelined him for the last two games. Jaden Hardy, who has missed the previous three games with a right ankle sprain, is also listed as "questionable."

Meanwhile, Dereck Lively II (right ankle stress fracture), Naji Marshall (illness), Dwight Powell (right hip strain), Luka Doncic (left calf strain) and Dante Exum (right wrist surgery) have all been ruled out for the game against Boston.

Addressing the team’s injury struggles, coach Kidd emphasized the challenges they face but highlighted that the current adversity offers younger players a valuable opportunity to build confidence and gain experience.

"There’s no guarantee that we will get whole," Kidd said. "What if, we can always play that game, but look at it as a positive. These young players are going to get a lot of reps.”
"I don’t think we’re looking at the standings. We’re trying to figure out who can put on a uniform and go from there."

The Mavericks currently hold the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings with a 24-21 record through 45 games. However, the team has struggled recently, dropping six of their last ten matchups.
