After getting eliminated in the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup, the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors were back in action on Sunday night. The Mavericks traveled to San Franciso to face the Warriors at the Chase Center for the second time this season.
Luka Doncic cooked the Warriors with 45 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and two blocks in an unstoppable performance. Klay Thompson had his best game of the season, scoring 29 points on 9-for-14 shooting and making seven 3-point shots.
On the other hand, Andrew Wiggins had a team-high 29 points for Golden State. Steph Curry contributed 26 points, five rebounds and 10 assists, while Draymond Green had 21 points off the bench. All of these weren't enough as the Warriors lost 143-133 in a record-breaking game with 48 made threes.

The Golden State Warriors were coming off a controversial 91-90 loss to the Houston Rockets in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. They had a six-point lead with three minutes left, but their clutch problems popped up again as they failed to score the rest of the way.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks were outclassed by the OKC Thunder in their quarterfinal matchup. Luka Doncic had his worst game of the season as the Thunder blew them out 118-104.
In the first quarter, Dallas came out firing and quickly built a 19-point lead at the 4:35 mark. They were simply unstoppable until the Warriors turned it up late in the period. However, the Mavericks were still up 46-33 after the first 12 minutes.
The second quarter was the same as Dallas continued their hot shooting from anywhere. Golden State also found their rhythm and made the game more interesting, scoring 41 points in the period. The Warriors were only down 81-74 at halftime.
The Golden State Warriors staged a comeback in the third quarter, trimming the Dallas Mavericks to just three within the first three minutes of the half. However, the Mavericks regained momentum and even built a 14-point advantage at one point.
Both teams slowed down in the final period before Golden State staged another run to start the quarter. They got the lead down to three points again before another Mavs kept the Warriors at bay. Dallas finally pulled away inside the final two minutes to get the win.
Golden State's scoring problem in the final minutes of the fourth quarter crept up again. They did play fantastic despite the loss, with the Mavericks playing their best game of the season as well. Both teams were scorching from beyond the arc, setting the record for most combined threes in an NBA game with 48.
