The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a significant warning to the NBA and other major sports leagues in the U.S. following a burglary involving Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. Last Friday, Doncic's home was burglarized while neither the Slovenian star nor his family members were present.
The Slovenian superstar is the latest high-profile athlete to fall victim to a string of burglaries that have become increasingly common in the U.S. since September. Other prominent athletes, including the Milwaukee Bucks' Bobby Portis and NFL star Patrick Mahomes, have also had their homes broken into during this period.
In response to the surge in burglaries, the FBI has warned the NBA and other leagues, citing that the rise in incidents may be driven by the perception that athletes' homes often contain high-end valuables.

"While many burglaries occur while homes are unoccupied, some burglaries occur while residents are home," the FBI said in Liaison Information Report obtained by ABC News.
"In these instances, individuals are encouraged to seek law enforcement help and avoid engaging with criminals, as they may be armed or use violence if confronted."
According to the Dallas Morning News, approximately $30,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from Luka Doncic's home during the burglary. The intruders reportedly gained access to the house through the master bedroom window between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday.
Luka Doncic is currently out of action
The burglary incident occurred while Luka Doncic is sidelined from basketball due to an injury. The Dallas Mavericks star suffered a left calf strain during the team’s Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since then, the five-time All-Star has missed three consecutive games and is expected to be out for several weeks.
Before his injury, Doncic was having another outstanding season, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He was shooting 46.4% from the field, including 35.4% from beyond the arc, showcasing his dominance on the court.
