“I can’t watch a full college game” – De'Aaron Fox delivers brutal take on March Madness

While the annual March Madness tournament has drawn in a wide range of viewers across the United States, Sacramento Kings star De'Aaron Fox couldn't care less. During a recent interview, Fox said he flips through college basketball games but can't watch a full game.

Although Fox, along with several other NBA stars, had a great run with the University of Kentucky in 2017, that doesn't mean he'd be interested in the team now. During a recent media scrum, Fox criticized NCAA basketball across the board, from the skill level of players to the officiating:

“I can’t watch a full college game, it’s hard. The shot-making is not at the pro level. The refs are bad. A lot of coaching is really bad. I can't stand it.”

Of course, Fox's comments drew plenty of criticism from fans who were quick to go the other direction by claiming that college basketball is the purest form of basketball. The claim has been one that has garnered more attention in recent years, given the criticism of the NBA and its officiating.

As one fan was quick to point out, the Louisiana vs. Tennessee game drew in 3.48 million viewers, while the NBA playoffs last year drew in 3.71 million viewers. For the NBA, the TV ratings marked a 14% improvement over the previous year.

De'Aaron Fox is focused on the Sacramento Kings, not March Madness

With the NBA season winding down, De'Aaron Fox is solely focused on helping the Sacramento Kings make a big postseason run. With the team currently ranked third in a stacked Western Conference, the Kings seem poised for their best finish in recent memory.

Currently, the team has just nine games left on the calendar before the end of the regular season. Although the second-place Memphis Grizzlies have won five straight games, the Kings remain in striking distance, just two games behind in the standings.

With a five-and-a-half-game lead over the fourth-place LA Clippers, the Kings have left the NBA stunned this season. After finishing inside of the Western Conference top 10 just twice in the past decade, few expected the team to post one of the best records in the NBA.

Thanks to the dynamic duo of Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox, the team has continued to pick up big wins. Early in the month, the pair picked up a double-overtime win over the LA Clippers. That night, the duo became the first in franchise history to each score 40 points.

After the game, Monk and Fox appeared in the post-game press conference where they spoke about their performances, with Monk saying:

"I think we were the first teammates to score 40 in [Sacramento] history. And that's one of my best friends. So doing it here with him is great. The game was super competitive. It was a fun basketball game to be a part of, man."
