NBA point guards Lonzo and LaMelo's brother, LiAngelo Ball, made waves when he released his song "Tweakers" last week. His hit caught the attention of former NBA stars Blake Griffin and Carmelo Anthony.

Griffin joined Anthony on Thursday's episode of the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast to discuss, among other things, LiAngelo's viral song. Griffin, Anthony and co-host Monica McNutt were all hyped for the song.

The trio even predicted the song's future while expressing how much they liked it.

"My son got a banger right now," Anthony said.

"I f*** with it," Griffin replied in agreement. "That takes me back to wearing 5XL tall tees, pulling up to Foot Locker 5 for 20$."
"It's gonna be in a commercial soon," McNutt said.
"That's a fact," Anthony replied. "Definitely go in LaMelo Puma commercial."

LiAngelo Ball released his song on Jan. 3. Initially, his brother and Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball was credited as a co-writer. However, Lonzo later clarified on X that he only deserves credit for the cover art.

Several videos of various NBA players jamming to the song have been posted on social media.

Blake Griffin recalls his interactions with LiAngelo Ball during their time with Detroit Pistons

Blake Griffin was traded by the LA Clippers to the Detroit Pistons midway through the 2017-18 season. He played for the Pistons until the mid-point of the 2021 season when the Pistons bought out his contract.

Before leaving Detroit, he got to spend some time with LiAngelo Ball, who was signed to a non-guaranteed contract on Dec. 2, 2020. On "7 PM in Brooklyn," Griffin recalled his experience talking with Ball while they were both with the Pistons.

"LiAngelo was in Detroit for camp with us one time," Griffin said. "Anytime I've talked to any of the Ball brothers, great dudes. Personable, down-to-earth, they know what they can do but they're great dudes." (1:19:33-1:19:47)

LiAngelo Ball's stint with the Detroit Pistons did not last as he was waived less than two weeks later on Dec. 14, 2020. He signed with the Charlotte Hornets twice, once in October 2021 and then again in September 2022.

However, he never played a game for the Hornets' main roster. His first stint lasted about a day, signed on Oct. 14, 2021, and then waived the following day. His second stint lasted longer, from Sept. 26, 2022, to Oct. 15 of the same year.

Despite not having played for the Hornets, he did suit up for the G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm. LiAngelo Ball played 28 games for the Swarm during the 2021-22 season. He averaged 4.6 points and 1.1 rebounds that year. He also played three games for them in 2022-23, averaging 2.3 ppg and 1.0 rpg.
