Jeff Teague believes a fifth ring puts Steph Curry in 'Top 5' conversation

Jeff Teague believes Steph Curry's successful 2024 Paris Olympics campaign puts him in the Top Five conversation. The guard also added that a fifth NBA ring would put him on par with Kobe Bryant, a five-time NBA champion with the LA Lakers. In the latest episode of the "Club 520" podcast, Teague weighed in on Curry's illustrious career that now has an Olympics gold medal as part of his silverware.

Calling the Golden State Warriors superstar the best point guard ever, Teague spoke about how Curry would make a case for being the best top five players in the league:

“He’s the best point guard ever… He’s gonna be in that mix... I just don’t see too many people better than him... If he gets another ring, definitely up there with Kobe," Teague said.

Curry proved his mettle as one of the greatest shooters as he led Team USA's offense in the semifinal against Serbia with 36 points. He followed it up with a formidable 24 points and five assists to take hosts France down in the marquee gold medal showdown. The back-to-back solid outings played a key role in Team USA winning their fifth gold medal in a row.

As for Teague's take, much depends on how the Warriors fare in the upcoming season. The team will be without Klay Thompson, a key component in their dynasty run. With new faces, the onus will be on Steph Curry again to spearhead Golden State to another championship run.

Steph Curry wants to be a Warrior for life but is aware of how things change in the NBA

With the Warriors losing Thompson in free agency, the focus shifted to Steph Curry's future with the franchise. On his part, the four-time NBA champion maintained his stance of ending his career in Golden State. Speaking to Yahoo! Sports during their Olympics prep camp in Las Vegas a month ago, the sharpshooter weighed in on his future:

“I mean, I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life. It's always been my goal, and I'm saying that sitting in this chair right now, but like you said, life, and especially life in the NBA, it is a wild environment, and things change quickly,” Curry said.

Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy has made it abundantly clear that Steph Curry "can get whatever he wants" when contract talks come up, and that's a massive faith move the Dubs are willing to take for the guard. Now, it's interesting to see the roster they build around him.
