There was a time when Dennis Rodman was one of the most famous and talked-about people on Earth.

His days of dominance in the NBA are far behind him, but he's still widely known for his eccentricities and his larger-than-life persona.

Now, the Rodman last name has become relevant in sports again, as his sons, Trinity and DJ, are also shining in their respective disciplines.

That was the case again on Sunday. While playing for the Maine Celtics, DJ took a page off his father's book to grab 10 rebounds in the first half alone. He finished the game with 17 boards, five of them on the offensive end of the floor.

That's why his mother and Rodman's ex-wife, Michelle Rodman, shared a picture on Instagram to showcase her son's accomplishments.

That was Rodman's second consecutive strong outing. He also grabbed nine rebounds in an overtime loss to the College Park Skyhawks, and he talked a little about his game and defensive prowess:

“It all comes down to the scout,” Rodman said after the game. “As long as you master the scout and know the tendencies, it’s really easy. I take a lot of pride in defense. Even if their best player’s going to score on me, I’m still going to be mad. I don’t want them to score. It’s all about the will.”

DJ Rodman doesn't want to be like Dennis Rodman off the court

For all his early success, DJ Rodman doesn't want to be like his father. They share the same defensive mindset, and they're both somewhat undersized to be so good at rebounding.

Nonetheless, when asked about his father's behavior off the court, he knows he needs to do better:

“Just because I’m around him doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and party every single night,” Rodman said. “I’m not going to be a nuisance … I’m going to be all these things that everyone thinks I’m going to be.”

The Detroit Pistons legend's relationship with his children has always been a complicated one, and he's been exposed multiple times because of that.

His son is yet to make it to the NBA, so he has to work as hard as his father did to become arguably the greatest rebounding force the league had ever seen. More than that, he also knows how a wild lifestyle can take a toll on your and your loved ones' lives.
