LeBron James, who scored the Lakers' final five points, missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left. The four-time MVP carried his team in the final quarter with 16 points but couldn't convert the shot that would have forced overtime. He finished the game with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Pistons leaned on Cade Cunningham, who tallied 20 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Tim Hardaway Jr., Jaden Ivey, Simone Fontecchio, Ronald Holland II and Malik Beasley helped carry the scoring load.
Detroit swept the season series 2-0 and improved its record to 13-17, while LA dropped to 16-13.

Detroit Pistons vs LA Lakers Game Summary
The Detroit Pistons hoped to sweep the season series against the LA Lakers on Monday. Detroit, which won 115-103 in the first meeting on Nov. 4, visited LeBron James and Co. at Crypto.com Arena.
Cade Cunningham paced the visitors with eight first-quarter points and four assists. Malik Beasley came off the bench to add nine points. Simone Fontecchio, another non-starter, contributed six points.
The Lakers opened the game with a balanced attack behind LeBron James who had seven points, four assists and three rebounds. Anthony Davis contributed four points, three assists and three rebounds. LA trailed 34-32 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was a tightly contested period by the Pistons and the Lakers. Detroit's bench continued to shine with Beasley finishing the first half with 14 points. The former Laker scored a drive over the outstretched hands of Anthony Davis to pull the Pistons within 64-62.
King James almost finished the first half with a double-double. He had nine points, nine assists and three rebounds. Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves combined for 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The fourth quarter was the LeBron James show. Cheered on by an adoring crowd, he scattered 16 points in the period, including the LA Lakers' last five points. However, he missed the potential game-tying 3-pointer that would have sent the game into overtime. The Detroit Pistons eked out a 117-114 win.
