The 2024 NBA Draft got underway on Wednesday in New York and among the prominent questions was where Bronny James would end up. The eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James was not selected in the first round of the draft.

Despite an underwhelming season at the University of Southern California, Bronny James was hoping to be drafted in the first round, although many pundits saw him sliding to the second.

Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists on a 36.6% shooting clip in 19.4 minutes of play in 25 games.

The young James, however, showed some promise during the Draft Combine and reportedly drew interest from several teams.

LeBron James, 39, has made it known that if given the opportunity he would love to play in the NBA with his son. It left the possibility that the Lakers could go after Bronny James in this year's draft to help entice 'The King' to stay with the team in Los Angeles.

The Lakers had two picks to select Bronny -- the 17th and 55th. The team, however, used the 17th pick to choose guard Dalton Knecht out of Tennessee.

Other teams that expressed interest in possibly selecting Bronny James were the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Toronto Raptors.

ESPN analyst believes Bronny James was right to declare for NBA Draft this year

Bronny James' decision to declare for the NBA Draft this year after a so-so season in USC was met with mixed reactions. But ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins said LeBron James' son was right to throw his name in the mix and expects him to do well in the league.

Perkins shared this in a report on Sports Illustrated in April.

"This is the right move. I always said I don't believe Bronny is built for college. I think he will be a hell of a pro. I'm not saying he will be his dad, I'm not saying that he's going to be an All-Star-caliber career as a pro, but he will have a great pro career..."

He added:

"I actually love this for Bronny James entering the draft, testing the waters, and working out in front of NBA scouts and GMs to showcase what he's capable of doing..."

Bronny said he is aware of the pressure of entering the NBA as LeBron James's son but is determined to make a name for himself. He, however, underscored that his father is very supportive of his journey right from the start.
