Earlier this month, Kevin Durant and WNBA rookie Cameron Brink were photographed alongside one another at the second annual Game Plan Summit event hosted by CNBC and Boardroom. A photo of the two basketball standouts was posted on Boardroom and CNBC Events' Instagram page along with other photos from the event.

Then, on Friday, the @TheNBACentel account made a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the photo. Along with the pic, the account alleged that Kevin Durant said he has a supposed "secret" crush on the LA Sparks rookie.

Of course, given that the quote was posted by NBA Centel, and not NBA Central, which uses the account @TheDunkCentral, the quote is fake, and Durant never spoke about having a crush on Brink. To date, Kevin Durant doesn't appear to have publicly spoken about Brink, or her WNBA season so far.

While the two-time NBA champ is an avid fan of the WNBA, and has been a vocal supporter of the league for several years now, he doesn't appear to have spoken about Brink specifically.

In addition, of course, the NBA Centel account has become infamous for posting fake news and fake quotes from players while attempting to pose as NBA Central, who posts accurate news from around the league.

Below you can see the post in question from the impostor account alleging that Durant reveled he has a crush on Brink:

"I've been rehabbing really hard" - Cameron Brink discusses recovery from ACL tear while attending Game Plan Summit alongside Kevin Durant

While the LA Sparks still have three games left before the end of the 2024 season, Brink has been absent from the floor since an ACL tear in June. Early in a clash with the Connecticut Sun, the rookie standout hit the floor and required assistance to make it back to the locker room.

While the situation didn't look good, few could have predicted how serious the situation was. The following day, LA announced that Brink had suffered a torn ACL that would keep her sidelined for the rest of the season.

In addition, as a result of the injury, Brink was forced to withdraw from the Olympics, where she was set to represent Team USA on the Women's 3x3 team. As Brink revealed at Game Plan Summit, which was also attended by Kevin Durant, she has been focused on recovery.

As she also explained during her appearance on CNBC's Fast Money that despite the injury, she's been putting in work off-court as well in the business space:

"Keeping the main thing, the main thing is really important because even though my W contract may not be as much as I'm making off the court, that is how I show up in this space and that's what I love to do.
"So I've been rehabbing really hard. I did a shoot with LegalZoom, probably seven days after I got injured… and it just kind of reminded me like this injury is not going to limit me. I can still be a businesswoman."

Brink is expected to be back at 100% when the 2025 WNBA season tips off.
