Stephen A. Smith sounds off on Anthony Edwards' recent comments
Along with being the host of one of the biggest sports debate shows in the country, Stephen A. Smith has been covering the NBA for multiple decades. Recently, he shared his thoughts on some interesting comments made by one of the league's top young stars.
During a recent interview, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards let out a bold take regarding previous generations of the NBA. He claimed that players weren't as skillful and that Michael Jordan was the only one with skill at the time.
Since these remarks went public, numerous people in and around the league have responded. Among those to do so was Stephen A. Smith, who went on First Take and admitted that Edwards' comments crossed a line.
"Of course they're out of bounds," Stephen A. said. "Forgive the young buck for what he does not know. He openly admits his youth. Comes in to play and he's barely seen the older competition from back in the day. He just doesn't know."
Stephen A. finished up by imploring Edwards to go and watch footage of some of the older legends. Among the names he brought up were Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Stephen A. Smith agreed with Edwards that the talent level across the league has increased in the modern era. However, he doesn't feel it's an excuse to try and diminish the players who paved the way for the current generation.
